Here it is, what was at one time supposed to be the final episode of 23min of Ska. In fact it is a reverse order of the bands played in the very first episode, different songs of course. It's been a long road to get here, and I've had a ton of fun along the way. I still think this would be a perfect ending, but I've literally been sitting on this episode for years. Heck, even the last few episodes were mostly worked out 3 years ago. I'd always planned on ending this show one day. Podcasts don't end, they just stop updating, and I though 23min of Ska deserved to go out with a proper ending. But more than going out in style, the listeners have showed me that instead, 23min of Ska deserves life! One day we'll come to a true ending, but this, this is just a check point, a weigh station on the journey of this silly little podcast. Thanks for having me, see you next week.

Two Down...

Do you think I would ever think to end this podcast with out giving you all one last huge ska/punk episode? If ska/punk isn’t yr thing, I understand, I get it, but I love it just as much as I dig the more traditional sound. Ok, yeah, I’m still trying to figure out what this countdown means, I decided not to kill 23min of Ska a few weeks ago, but this has still got to lead someplace, and I don’t know what to do after this. There’s always been some kind of method to my madness, as random as it seems, that keeps be going, past the joy that listening to ska music brings me. I just need to find that next hook, that warp zone to the next level, and I’ll be set. I’m sure I’ll get there, I’m sure we all will. Life isn’t worth living if you not striving for next.

Three Hard Winters
February 11, 2016 02:00 AM PST

This episode is for my friends, and by that I mean, you guys, my listeners. Also, the bands in this podcast contain some people that range from good acquaintances to long distance friends (except for doctormanette, I don't even know anyone in that band). So this, is possible, the one of the friendliest episodes of the show that I have ever put out! Listen with your friends! Also, re: the title "Three Hard Winters," it's a reference to Fimbulvetr, the three harsh Winters (without a Summer) in Norse mythology, that is the prelude to Ragnarök.

the Coming Four Horsemen

The theme is the end. The Apocalypse is an end. The horsemen come and herald the end. The theme for this episode is fours and endings. I didn’t think about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse until I was trying to think of a better name for this episode that “Nothing Lasts Four Ever” and now I feel I wasted a perfectly good theme. Well… maybe I’ll come back to it some day… I mean… I’m not really going to end 23min of Ska am I?

Hey, High Five All Around!
January 28, 2016 02:00 AM PST

Five! The countdown is real... in case you haven't noticed for the last eighteen episodes the titles have been counting down... but to what? Truth be told, it might be counting down to the end. The end of the podcast proper? When I started the countdown, yes, this is exactly what it was leading to. But I'm having second thoughts. Months ago when this countdown started it was when I was getting hardly any downloads, listens, shares, likes, what-have-you and zero feedback. It was depressing. Ska isn't supposed to depress people. Then the month of January hit... and it has been crazy! Huge download numbers, a number of new listeners and several supportive comments... I'm kind of shocked. It makes me want to keep going. So what are we counting down to? You tell me! Listeners, tell me what you want from this podcast, we'll go from there! This show is nothing with out you and the bands, I'm just a middle man, hit me up, let me know! Maybe we're just counting down to an even better version of 23min of Ska!

It’s true listeners, we’ve made it to the 6 year mark! I’m not going to lie, I never thought I’d take it this far! I figured I’d give it a good shot for 3 years and see how things go. Due to the support of many listeners and many bands I’ve been happy to continue doing this little podcast for any ska fan that downloads it. Thanks, for real, thanks!

the 7 Chakras
January 14, 2016 02:00 AM PST
itunes pic

What do I know about chakras? Not too much, I'm really hoping a whitey like me isn't offending any Indians whose religious practice includes the chakras. Come to think of it, I didn't worry about offending Christians when I did theme episodes on the Deadly Sins... well, retroactively, I hope I didn't upset any Christians. At most the chakras were a spring board to present 7 songs or artists that in some way relate to what each chakra represents. It isn't perfect, but it was fun to try and figure out, and hell, all of this music is worth hearing anyway, so stop reading and get listening!
